Atom is the modern format and what I’d pick if I were you. RSS is older and still works fine; it’s here for readers that prefer it.

If you don’t have a feed reader, Reeder is the one I use on the Macintosh and Unread on iPhone/iPad. NetNewsWire is free, open-source, and excellent.
